Corcel Produce Cartons
Corcel single piece apple box
Commonly, Z-pack cartons are used for packing pip fruit - these
consist of separate inner and outer box sections (i.e. base +
lid)which slide one over the other in a complementary fit.
The total cardboard used in such a carton is 1.25m² weighing 1617
grams. Z-packs have a number of limitations, including poor print
surfaces, the use of conventional corrugated board which consists
of many fluid conduits that allow moisture to penetrate into the
heart of the boxes, and compromised strength. Unpacked, the base
and lid takes up twice the space.
CORCEL apple boxes use a unique closed cell technology which
blocks moisture penetration. The fact that the board itself is
eight times stronger than ordinary cardboard in combination with
its superior moisture resistance means, the CORCEL box is well
suited to long exposure to cool room environments. The CORCEL box
is also interlocking for secure pallet stacking and it only weighs
1124 grams - resulting in savings of 27% in materials. These
savings in combination with the revolutionary 'green'technology
used to make the cardboard make the boxes very attractive to any
company wanting to reduce its carbon foot print. It's super flat
surface and pre-printed liner also enhances branding and
presentation.
Corcel kiwifruit carton
Kiwifruit cartons made from Corcel's 3C technology have many
advantages over existing cartons. They are moisture resistant and
approximately eight times stronger than conventional corrugated
board cartons. The extra strength allows for air channels to be
incorporated into the cartons which when stacked side by side form
ventilation chimneys. Based on thermodynamic calculations these
chimneys move 300 cubic metres of air per hour from the bottom out
to the top of a pallet stack. This feature cools down fruit much
faster and reduces spoilage.
This CORCEL carton is made from 510 grams of paper. Again these
cartons are excellent for cool store environments, and with a
pre-printed liner will add value to branding and presentation.
